Join us for an intro to ceramics workshop at Plantae & Fungi in Cambria! We will be making a Ceramic Speckled Planter and you will be able to take home a plant on the same day! You will learn the basics of working with clay using the slap construction method then decorating using stamps and tools. Adriana Lemus from Night Owl Pottery will guide you through this intro to clay workshop!

The $80 fee includes cone 5 speckled stoneware clay, all materials and tools to use during the workshop, glaze and firing, 2 hours of instruction by an experienced ceramic artist, herbal tea from Vana Tisanes and CBD chocolate confections from BaceaeAND a 6″ plant to take home on the day of the workshop! Once your Speckled Ceramic Planter is created, you will leave it with the instructor where she will take it back to her studio in San Luis Obispo to be fired, glazed (painted), and fired a second time. This process takes about 4-5 weeks. When complete, your pieces will be brought back to Plantae & Fungi to be picked up.

Night Owl Pottery started as a collaboration of ceramic work by artist Adriana Lemus and natural builder Chad Franco. They created almost all of their pottery at night—thus, Night Owl Pottery and started teaching workshops together in 2018. Adriana Lemus studied art at UC Berkeley and has been showing her work, selling, teaching private lessons, and teaching workshops on the Central Coast for the past seven years. Adriana sells her work at Makers Markets, online, and is currently working on commission work for restaurants, hotels, spas, and homes. They’ve recently added Emma Anselm of Clay Babe Ceramics to their team!

Plantae + Fungi is a story of our passion and our community. It’s respectful of and inspired by the power of plants and mushrooms to enhance our daily life and give us purpose. More importantly, we believe it has a soul— all of our products are locally-sourced starting from Cambria, California and then moving out from there and are made by human hands from small businesses. We believe the sources that grow directly from the ground carry a sacred energy that holds the truths of our world and our well-being, bringing new life to what we experience both inside and out. At our roots, a passion for plants and mushrooms stems from our commitment to our planet and our people. We strive to emulate the vital role of plantae and fungi by cultivating relationships with ourselves and those that visit us.
