It is clear that we are living in difficult times. The socio-economic and political divides in our country are wider than ever. Social media and endless news cycles allows us to witness the atrocities worldwide in such great detail. These moments can make anyone feel deeply sad, helpless, and overwhelmed. Developing a mindfulness meditation practice that centers us in the wisdom and compassion of our true nature is key to building resilience in these difficult times. Forgiveness and compassion go hand in hand. It can be both liberating and transformative when we discover what’s possible when we’re able to forgive. The practice of forgiveness can impact our individual experiences, our relationships, and the world around us.

In this short introductory course, Mindfulness Meditation: Cultivating Compassion + Forgiveness for Ourselves and Others led by Miho Watanabe, you will learn practical tools on how to cultivate compassion and how it can help you find forgiveness for yourself and others. You will experience first hand the impacts of including compassion and forgiveness in your daily life.

Mindfulness Meditation: Cultivating Compassion + Forgiveness for Ourselves and Others is a 4 week course that will take place every Saturday at 9:30-10:30am at Plantae + Fungi starting 5/4/24 until 5/25/24. This entire 4-week series is $20.

1st Class: May 4th, 2024 @ 9:30am – 10:30am

2nd Class: May 11th, 2024 @ 9:30am – 10:30am

3rd Class: May 18th, 2024 @ 9:30am – 10:30am

4th Class: May 25th, 2024 @ 9:30am – 10:30am

Meet Your Teacher

Miho Watanabe

Yoga and particularly meditation profoundly changed my life and the way I perceive myself and the world around me which is why I am passionate about sharing it with others especially those new to the practice or those who think it’s not for them. In life, it’s easy to get caught in our day to day activities with mindless habitual actions, and through a gentle and inviting approach, I aim to bring us all back to our true nature of loving and kind awareness living our lives more fully.

I completed my 200-hour YTT certificate in 2016 at Smiling Dog Yoga in San Luis Obispo, and am currently studying to get my Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification through Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield’s 2 year program.

My classes combine restorative yoga, sometimes yin yoga, with breath practices and soothing guided meditation. Sometimes my classes only involve meditation rooted in vipassana and an inquiry of the self. I invite you to explore what’s possible and pursue what you feel called to join. I look forward to meeting you!
